Ron Hardy Mixes

In the mid-eighties, Ron Hardy was one of Chicago’s most influential DJs. When Frankie Knuckles left The Warehouse to open the Power Plant in November 1982, owner Robert Williams opened the Muzic Box at 1632 S Indiana Ave. He poached Ron Hardy from a small club called the Ritz. After the original Muzic Box was condemned, Williams moved the club to 326 N Michigan Ave.

Hardy’s style was imaginative, with radical tape edits, fast tempos, and heavy EQing. Most importantly, he played tracks handed to him by local producers.

The mixes below are from deephousepage.com. I documented each tracklist with help from forum members and Jason at suenomartino.net. Any corrections or additions are welcome.
