Ghostly International, 2003
This solid comp. shows why Ghostly International is one of the best American indie labels around. From Dabrye (aka Tadd Mullinix) and his simple, subdued instrumental hip-hop, to the beautiful downtempo melodies of Midwest Product, this is a label to watch. The only track that seems out of place is Dykehouse’s poppy, guitar-laden “Map Ref. 41º N 43º W.” All of the other cuts are pure underground electronica. Prefuse 73 even contributes a superb Dabrye megamix, topping off this collection with a musical dessert.
