Various: Well-Suited for General-Purpose Audio Work
Schematic’s always been good at putting comps together. Perhaps it’s because their artists’ palettes are relatively similar. There’s a glitchy Schematic aesthetic which borders on cold and clinical, but is always interesting. From Phoenecia’s remix of Tipper’s “Dissolve (Out),” with its soft patter of chimes and distorted voices, to Dino Felipe’s trio of gritty tracks, this is a solid grouping of exclusive music. Even Otto Von Schirach’s contributions are tolerable. While Schematic’s comps continue to be essential listening, I wouldn’t mind seeing them expand their roster even more. There’s nothing wrong with having a singular purpose, but evolution is a good thing too.
