Various: Ninja Cuts 3: Funkungfusion
Ninja Tune, 1998
Fellow Ninja Tune junkies are urged to pick up a copy of Ninja Cuts 3: Funkungfusion. This comp. features an amazing variety of unidentifiable genres, with tracks from the likes of Amon Tobin, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Coldcut, Luke Vibert, DJ Vadim, and Funki Porcini, just to name a few. There are two discs of madness, the second being a little more out there. The music dips between jazz, funk, electronica, hip-hop, and everything in between. There are exclusive tracks here too. At the moment, my favorites are Amon Tobin’s “Melody Infringement,” Luke Vibert’s “Slipped Disc,” and DJ Food’s “The Crow.” There are so many great cuts, this is definitely essential. Make sure your CD player is up to par, though. Disc 2 is apparently a bit too demanding for mine. Thank goodness it’ll play on my trusty Mac.
